About

Why we exist

Originally formed in 1978 to help gain acceptance of the on-demand end of the Print market, the BAPC has grown into a major representational body to the print and creative industry. Most of the industry is made up of small companies without a collective voice or the financial leverage to access dedicated expertise that can help businesses grow and get recognised. The BAPC is a body that can speak on behalf of everyone in the business and offer every business the benefit of help and assistance across the spectrum of business advice and services.

We pioneer new ways of working, promote latest technologies and represent the interests of our members at the highest national levels. As well as helping our member and associate members to improve the way they work, we’re also out there attracting new talent into the industry and new challenges and motivations for those already in it.

We’re also in touch with fellow national associations round the world and able to offer a global perspective on print and creative issues. Whether you’re a small local firm or a multi-national corporation, the BAPC can add value to your offering.

Benefits we offer

One of the benefits of being such a large trade association is that we have the leverage to bring in a host of expert advice and services to help our members. Not just in print and creative issues but from every business related field from Legal, Financial, Marketing and HR to Training, Sustainability and Recruitment, we are here to help and support your business.

Sidney Bobb - Former BAPC Chairman and President Emeritus

Following a career as an executive and director of a London-based ondemand printing company, Sidney joined the print industry in the mid-1980s.

Having been involved in purchasing print, he realised the potential of the sector and, despite a lack of print technical knowledge, he was convinced that the sector had vast potential.

Sidney heard about the BAPC and convinced his fellow directors to join. He was impressed with what the Association was trying to achieve, but believed that it could do even more. In 1995 the BAPC approached Sidney to join their National Council and become its Chairman; and he never looked back.

In 2019 Sidney successfully negotiated a partnership between the BAPC and fellow print industry trade association, the IPIA, to join forces, complimenting each other with their membership demographics, before passing the baton of Chairman over to his longtime friend and associate Brendan Perring. As President he will now assist in steering the BAPC on its new course.

“There is a specialist skill in running a print or creative business and over the years the BAPC has provided a collective wisdom in tackling its challenges. Those involved in the BAPC are industry insiders who understand the kind of help and guidance needed ‘at the coalface’,” says Sidney.
