BAPC Leader Spring 2021

SPRING 2021 — BAPC LEADER 8 Inspiration station Another fantastic example of Antalis seeking to inspire creatives and marketeers is with the launch of its Coala brand of architectural adhesive films designed to transform interior surfaces. “Coala Interior Film allows the hospitality, entertainment, retail and various other industries to reinvent spaces quickly, conveniently and cost-effectively,” comments Mike Collins, Visual Communication Product Manager at Antalis. The range comes in eight collections: wood, natural stone, leather, textiles, marble, glitter, fabric, or plain colours and can, if needed, be UV inkjet printed. A fantastic example is the heart-warming story of how artist Christine Nicholls reached so many with her positive daily messages to combat the, often lonely, road of lockdown. When Christine of Inkpot & Pen studio went into lockdown, she started to illustrate and record daily the humorous journey of an artist’s life during this time from her London apartment and gardens. Her illustrations were posted on Instagram throughout lockdownandChristine’s following grewhugely as a result. In fact, they proved so popular that a book was commissioned; ‘The Diary of an Artist in Lockdown’ – a five-month, 400 page illustrated and hand lettered diary. Drawing on consultancy and advice from Antalis, the paper stock was crucial to Chrissie, who wanted the printed book to replicate the look and feel of the original diary and sketch book. Chrissie explains why she chose this grade; “A 100 percent recycled paper was very important with a resemblance to the original sketch paper I had used. Nautilus has a lovely feel and touch with a warmth to the sheet which helped to retain the integrity of the original illustrations. “As an artist, I’m an ordinary person who experiences joys and mishaps, successes and mistakes like everyone else, and love to record these. With the support of Antalis and many others I have been able to publish the book so others can share these experiences.” Antalis drives creativity, with innovation and inspiration Christine Nicholls is a visual artist living in London. Her work covers a range of disciplines; primarily illustration, lettering, printmaking and artists' books. She works with designers, letterpress printmakers, directly with small companies and individuals. Christine also sells her work at artists' book fairs, pop up shops, open studios and privately. Christine is now based in north London and lives in a flat with a garden which she loves. ‘The Diary of an Artist in Lockdown’ is available at inkpotandpen.com For more information or for A5 samples visit antalis.co.uk A Diary of an Artist in Lockdown was printed using Nautilus 120gsm text and the cover was 135gsm laminated onto a greyboard inner With the support of Antalis and many others I have been able to publish the book so others can share these experiences Whether through its training academy, support of artists and charitable projects, or its wider initiatives to educate the creative and marketing industries about the power and sustainability of print and paper – Antalis is a key advocate for the print, paper and allied industries.
